Today at NLS:

• Our song of the day was Beautiful Day by U2.

• We played with the Magic Sunbeam again in the morning.

• Nico's class had a very chaotic and therefore very short video call : )

• Lucas and Nico got to watch Salsa, which appears to be something like Sesame Street in Spanish for the elementary school crew. Cool!

• We wrapped up our first week of Oakhurst distance learning!

Today at NLS:

• Our song of the day was Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

• In the morning we had a lot of fun with a magic sunbeam in the hallway that made the wall and floor glow with the color of Nico and Lucas' shirt!

• For math, Nico played "Where's My Money?" and had to track down $7.14 in homemade money stashed around the house.

• For Spanish, Lucas described something he likes about Mommy.

• AM recess: a new twist on the old event: one lap in the driveway, then touch the house with your foot, and THEN go to the tree and back. PM recess: biking!

• And Nico had a playdate with Liam!

Today at NLS:

• Happy Birthday Mommy!! We started the day off with a chocolate chip M&M brownie cake.

• Song of the day: High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco, with an extra-fun viewing of the behind the scenes video to learn how the lead singer walked up a building in the video for the song.

• Nico and Lucas both did great with their online learning. Nico finished up his poster on the life cycle of a penguin and Lucas wrote a compelling opinion piece from the perspective of a mango about why you shouldn't eat him.

• Both boys drew amazing dogs in their online art class with Ms. D.

• In the afternoon Lucas had his first typing lesson and Nico got lost in the book Candymakers.

• Recess: biking in the local church parking lot!

Today at NLS:

• Our song for the day was a Journey's Don't Stop Believin'

• A highlight of the day was making brownies for Mommy's birthday!!

• It was raining in the morning, so we got do do indoor recess with Adventures to Fitness with Mr. Mark. This week's episode is "Pie-Rats of the Caribbean."

• We also set some new 5- and 7-year old world record times in our newest sprint event: Run Up and Down the Driveway Touch the Tree and Come Back.

Week 3!! Today at NLS:

• Our song for the day was a 1992 live version of Alive by Pearl Jam. The fact that it was Daddy's favorite song in high school made it kind of interesting, and the color video made it tolerable. And the kids got to learn what crowdsurfing is.

• Today was our first full day of the new online learning curriculum from Oakhurst. As Mrs. Staton said it could be, it was a bit bumpy at the start, but we're starting to get the hang of it. Nico researched komodo dragons and Lucas made a compelling case for why cheetahs are the best animal.
